In this blog post, we’d like to share the collaboration journey between Florian Garnier, Managing Director of SFA Vietnam and Komit Consulting in rolling out an Odoo ERP system.
Together, we implemented Odoo ERP for SFA Vietnam and later on for SFA global operations - from Vietnam to India, Sweden, Korea, and more - helping streamline key functions such as accounting, purchasing, inventory, HR, and reporting.
About SFA Group
Founded in France, SFA Group is a global company with operations in 29 subsidiaries worldwide. Known for its inventive, reliable, and easy-to-install solutions, SFA aims to bring greater comfort to both professionals and private individuals in their everyday lives. The group’s expertise spans water treatment, shower and spa equipment, as well as domestic and professional pumping solutions. With a strong focus on innovation and practicality, SFA’s mission is to design and manufacture solutions wherever water flows and drains.
Why did you approach Komit in the first place? What problem were you facing?
As a friend of Jean Charles, I trusted his expertise in providing Odoo as an ERP, especially for start-ups. I did not want to approach larger software providers since I preferred a more open-sourced and customisable solution so that it is scalable.
Another key reason was communication. Working with Komit gave us the advantage of a multilingual team, with Vietnamese speakers who could collaborate effectively with our local staff, and French speakers who could align with our management team. This made onboarding, coordination, and decision-making smoother.
Initially, our goal was to have Komit support only the SFA Vietnam team. However, over time, their reliability, responsiveness, and strong technical standards led us to expand the collaboration across other regions. Komit is now our main reference partner for ERP deployment - not only in Vietnam but also in India, Turkey, Sweden, and more. Our internal IT team works closely with Komit to align on security, scalability, and long-term strategy, and their adaptability has played a key role in making our global ERP rollout more streamlined and effective.
Which features help you the most to save time
Easy to find
On Odoo, I can find and monitor everything independently, rather than waiting for my team to extract the relevant information.
Trustability
Everything is logged, and the data is transparent, which makes it easy to cross-check figures when needed.
Centralised
Most of what we need, from Accounting to HR — is available in one place.
Which features help you to avoid mistakes?
Odoo helps us reduce errors through a few key features. For one, the automatic reconciliation setup, when configured properly, makes our accounting more efficient. The system also enforces constraints that guide us to input data correctly, which leads to more reliable reports.
There are also built-in constraints that ensure that fields like product type, analytic accounts, and other key details are automatically configured, which leads to more accurate reporting.
Another time-saver is the automatic computation of COGS. As long as the correct product is selected, the system handles the rest - making the overall accounting process much quicker.
How did your team members welcome the project and was it difficult to convince them to start using it?
It was not difficult for management or the team to start using since Odoo is quite user-friendly, with popups that drives you through the process intuitively.
That said, the initial configuration, especially around Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) came with a learning curve. Setting up the master data was particularly challenging, as our business operations were evolving at the same time. As SFA Vietnam grows, our needs change, which means we’ve had to continuously adapt and align our internal processes with the way Odoo works through customization and iteration.
If you had to go through the setup process again, would you do something differently?
If I could go through the setup again, I would prefer to input all our master data at once, rather than taking a step-by-step approach and using Odoo in production in between. With Jean-Charles’s experience, he could already anticipate the data we would need, so I would have proposed entering everything upfront to avoid rework and ensure smoother integration.
How do you feel about the quality of the support from Komit? Are they fast and helpful?
Komit is reliable, responsive, and clear. Even if something takes time to fix or they do not have a solution right away, they always let us know where things stand.
Could you imagine stop using Odoo?
Not at all. We’re planning to use Odoo long-term at SFA, including in future rollouts for other countries for the long run.
What are the strengths of Komit that make this project a success?
First, communication. Our local team can speak Vietnamese directly with Komit, and for management, being able to communicate in French is a big plus. That dual-language flexibility makes things much easier on both sides.
Second, responsiveness. Even when they don’t have an immediate answer, they let us know they’re on it and come back with options. I never feel like I have to chase them. If you’re spending time chasing your support team, then something’s not right - but with Komit, that has not been the case.”
